Pop-Up Here, Pop-Up There...

Posted by dburns at 10:15 PM on February 3, 2004.

I am 1 pop-up away from blowing up this computer! Whenever I turn my pop-up blocker on, it turns off. Maybe I should work more with the Mozilla pop-up blocker. All I know is, I have to figure something out.

I've been concentrating lately on NaNoWrimo. I have a complete outline of the plot and characters done. I'm hoping to advance on it, though.

Everybody's heard about the Super Bowl half-time Janet Jackson "controversy", but did anybody hear that each CBS station that aired the mishap was fined $27,500 by the FCC? If anything, I think it's the NFL that should be fined, or maybe even MTV, since they produced the act.

Let's Go Bucks!

Posted by dburns at 07:57 PM on February 2, 2004.

Although I have been rooting for the Timberwolves throughout the entire season, I am always hoping the Bucks win. In their last ten games, they have gone 6-4. Hopefully things will pick up, although their next game is against Houston......in Houston! Agh!

I've Only Dreamed of This

Posted by dburns at 09:39 PM on January 29, 2004.

Last week was the end of first semester at my school and beginning of the second. Sadly, with the second semester comes new classes. Two classes I previously had were Computers and German, and those two were replaced by Art and Spanish. I have nothing wrong with Spanish, but I'm not an artist.

Luckily, my time has come. Tomorrow I begin the day at school for a half an hour, which is followed by a field trip......to the movies! How great? Our entire grade is going to see "Cheaper by the Dozen". Anybody seen it? I've heard the book is good, but have heard nothing about the movie.

After that I'm participating in a grade-wide Trivia Challenge. *Freshes up on useless facts* And to end the day---a lock-in. A lock-in is where a class stays in the school overnight, doing whatever. In other words, I'll probably be up all night and won't be able to walk on Saturday.

Anybody doing NaNoWrimo this year? I think I'll try it, see how it goes. 1,700 words a night doesn't seem bad at all, it's just coming up with the plot and story that's the hard part.

Egh...

Posted by dburns at 09:39 PM on January 28, 2004.

Why, oh why? My Milwaukee Bucks just lost to the New Orleans Hornets, who they were tied with in Central Division standings. Ah well. It's a good thing I picked the Timberwolves this year. (I'm talking basketball, for those of you who don't know) Lena has it easy, she has a team that's considered terrible if they don't win the championship.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't have homework today. How great? Gave me more time to work on a few scripts I'm working on for our school newspaper's website, which I rarely get to do. And, it's time for more sleep than usual.

No Spam by 2006?

Posted by dburns at 07:17 PM on January 27, 2004.

Celebrate! Experts predict that spam will be gone by 2006! Then again, I'm not trusting it, since it was Bill Gates that made the claim. Apparently, Microsoft and Brightmail Inc. (which I haven't even heard of), an antispam company, are teaming together to pounce on spam. Ten USD it doesn't happen.

I'm getting closer and closer to Mozilla by the day. I haven't found one problem with it, besides the fact I can't scroll as fast as other browsers, it gets my favorite browser ever award.

If It Were Summer...

Posted by dburns at 12:48 PM on January 25, 2004.

Yesterday a friend and I were talking about how stressful school was getting. Then my friend asked me what I would be doing if I didn't have school to worry about at the moment. My reply: More sleep, more active, and, oh yeah, actually get back to working on my site, drewburns.com. I'd probably post in this blog more often too.

Does anybody use the regular Mozilla browser anymore? When I first tried Firebird, I was very impressed, but, it didn't have enough to keep me away from IE. Then I downloaded the regular Mozilla, and have been using it ever since. Weird.

New Years!

Posted by dburns at 01:51 AM on January 2, 2004.

Don't you just love New Years Day? You wake up all excited, in the big 2-OH-OH-4! Not in my case. I only stayed up until 1 AM (which is pretty early compared to my normal New Year's Eve schedule), and woke up at noon wiped. Felt terrible. Enough ranting.

Everybody's doing it, so I'll join the club. New Year's Resolutions:

1. Get more organized.
2. Focus more on school. (goes with 1)
3. Do more saxophone pieces, on free time.
4. Code more. Nothing wrong with that.

I've personally enjoyed Dodo's blog posts about China's economicical and political troubles. Very interesting. I'm beginnning to read more articles on the subject.

Everybody enjoy their new year!

Christmas, Done!

Posted by dburns at 11:12 PM on December 26, 2003.

Ah! Their is nothing like the feeling of the stressful holiday season being over. It feels so great. Everything I got for everybody, they loved. How relieving. And even better, I have vacation until Jan. 4th! Aren't I just so lucky?

What did everybody get for Christmas? Some things I got:

1. An awesome Jeopardy! game.
2. 2 LeBron James jerseys, from two different people. I'll just trade one in for another.
3. Telescope. Always wanted one strangely.
4. Board games off the hook.
5. DVD player, and DVD (Bad Boys 2, only saw the beginning, was dying to see the rest of it!)
6. New bedroom phone. Includes calendar, alarm, calculator, radio, basically, everything but the kitchen sink. I didn't get a new cell phone, like Christina though. I'm stuck with my old one!

I got some stocking stuffers also and some bigger things. I just can't remember them.

That's all for now. Back to watching the Timberwolves beat themselves...

It's About Time

Posted by dburns at 06:45 PM on December 10, 2003.

In the past 24 hours, my mood has to have taken a complete u-turn. Yesterday I was clogged up, with things to do, sleep to catch up on, and homework to get done. But thanks to my good friend snow, things changed. I woke up this morning to a 2-hour delay for our school. And within an hour, all of the area's classes have been cancelled. There is a god! The weather seems pretty nasty right now, too. Could it happen again tomorrow? *crosses fingers*

Since I had practically nothing to do and all day to do it, I had some fun. I went snowboarding for the majority of a day. How great! I haven't snowboarded for over a year, so I was thrilled. The rest of the day I spent resting, etc.

I'm still not sure on what to get some people. Maybe a book? A gift certificate? Who knows. As long as everything gets done before Christmas, I'm happy.

Tonight the Bucks play the Warriors. I'm not necessarily a Bucks fan, even though I'm from Wisconsin, but I'm cheering for them in this game. All of the odds are on their side, as I see it. The Bucks are 9-12, which I think is pretty lousy compared to what I expected for the beginning of the season. Why not make it 10-12? Let's go Bucks!

What's with these Holidays?

Posted by dburns at 08:00 PM on December 9, 2003.

Here's my first post. I was working on a personal template for it, but decided to save the hassle I was having, and go with a premade template. I don't think it looks all that bad, do you?

What's with it with these holidays, anyway? School, basketball, band, and newspaper consume my week, not allowing me any on-line time. The only way for me to do things I wanted to do was to save them for the weekend. And then Christmas rolls in. So far, I've gotten most of my Christmas shopping done. Most of it. I still have my mother, sister, and a few friends that I'm exchanging with to shop for. Ugh. I hope to get it all done this weekend, that is, if the stores aren't cleaned out. How's your holiday times been going? I hope you don't have a fate like mine.

Plug: Christina spent her time doing a great job working on her community domain, and nobody visits! lol, gotta get the traffic visiting.
